The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Production Management Department of the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology.

The Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology educates students for management and leadership roles within the fashion and related creative industries. Our curriculum integrates a deep appreciation of how markets, business environments, advanced business technology and competition can be managed in a global context. The Baker School of Business and Technology collaborates with both the School of Art and Design, and the School of Liberal Arts, whose courses help students to better understand themselves, others, and their place in an increasingly complex world. The Baker School co-operates to design curricular and educational experiences that help hone general skills and behaviors that employers increasingly demand: critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a strong sense of professional and ethical responsibility, social skills, the ability to work productively in teams, and excellent oral and written communications skills.

Seven of the ten Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is dedicated to promoting continuous improvement in the practice of business in every industry worldwide.
The Production Management department is housed within the Baker School of Business and Technology and oversees Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science degree programs. The program emphasizes practical in-classroom training with specific software technologies, advanced manufacturing concepts and equipment, teamwork, collegiality, cultural awareness, and the communication and technology skills necessary for today's competitive global business environment.
Students obtain a global perspective through both academic and experiential learning. The curriculum is designed to guide students in acquiring and developing the creative skills, analytical business principles and production methods necessary to succeed in various fashion-related careers including but not limited to production management, sourcing, product development and costing, cost engineering, and quality assurance.
The Production Management degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Job Description:
The Production Management program seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member who is a motivated practitioner with demonstrated expertise in materials and production management to teach courses in flexible materials and their applications, cutting room processes, facilities management, computer-based costing, technical operation research applications as they relate to the apparel and fashion industries.
The candidate will demonstrate working knowledge of PDM or PLM software and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel. Preferred candidates will have experience in 3D body scanning and 3D printing and prototyping, and have industry-appropriate certifications, (ex. Six Sigma, MOS, etc.).
The successful candidate will be current in industry advancements and emerging trends with a passion for empowering students to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits while embracing academic scholarship. The primary responsibility will be teaching to deliver engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills; to develop and expand on curriculum in the areas of manufacturing, supply chain and raw material management, and total quality management. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising students and identifying opportunities through mentoring, internships, seminars, and industry functions while cultivating strategic alliances with industry and other academic institutions.
The successful candidate will serve an integral role in the planning and implementation of the strategic goals for the program, participate in department, School, and college-wide committee service, and support accreditation and administrative activities as required.
