BACKGROUND:
The International
Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and
helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries
and 29 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way
from harm to home.
SCOPE OF THE ON-CALL VOLUNTEER WORK:
The on-call volunteer
will be assigned to support across all departments of IRC NJ, with a focus on
those with high needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteers will be added to an on-call list and contacted for an
assignment based on their schedule. Assignments will vary, but may include:
Apartment Set-up:
Assist carrying, moving, and setting up furniture and
other household items.
Assist with the delivery of furniture and other
household items
In-kind Donations:
Assist with drop-off and delivery of in-kind
donations.
Identify and collect appropriate clothing donations
for refugee families.
Organize and inventory donations
Interpretation/translation assignments
Assist IRC staff with interpretation or translation
Open to other assignments as needed
