Your Role

Gensler's New York office is seeking a Senior HR Generalist who will be involved with all aspects of Human Resources. This is an opportunity to be part of a strategic HR service model in a cutting-edge environment working closely with the HR team and office leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with HR leadership, studio leaders and office leadership on people matters related to talent development, performance management and employee relations

  • Provide support to HR, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations

  • Advocate for team members, be a trusted and confidential advisor, and suggest best practices to enhance employee experience

  • Counsel managers and leaders on human resources issues, providing insight and options compliant with legislation and consistent with Gensler philosophies, policies, and culture

  • Manage day-to-day employee relations issues covering a broad range of topics that require knowledge of policies, local and state laws, sound judgement, functional expertise and ability to communicate with all levels within the firm

  • Support full lifecycle of the employee from on-boarding, engagement, development, exit, and retirement

  • Investigate, document, and resolve employee relations issues

  • Work with the HR team to support the initial evaluation process for assigned studios through Gensler's Pathways to Success program

  • Analyze people data/metrics and create reports to help inform talent decisions

  • Partner with the HR team and leadership regarding compensation and reward programs

  • Promote global mobility of employees by collaborating with HR team members on the transfer process for New York while utilizing immigration and work authorization knowledge as needed.

  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to leadership for corrective action and continuous improvement

  • Educate employees about benefit programs and liaise with firmwide Benefits team

  • Involvement in staffing and other operational functions within the office as appropriate

  • Partner with Talent Development team in rolling out programs, including our annual PDP program and participate in professional development for team members across the firm

  • Partner with HR team colleagues to create and innovate HR practices

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, productivity, and recognition

  • Understand all Gensler policies and ensure compliance within the office

  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as appropriate

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related area required

  • 8+ years of Human Resources experience, at least 2+ years experience in Employee Relations and Performance Management specifically, architecture or professional services firm experience preferred

  • PHR/SHRM-CP certification or equivalent preferred

  • Working knowledge of employment law and compliance regulations at federal, state and local levels

  • Global mobility and immigration knowledge

  • Proficient in the use of HRIS and MS Office Suite applications, particularly Excel

  • Experience running and analyzing reports

  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment

  • Ability to produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required

  • Ability to work independently, navigate, and maintain productivity in a matrix environment and able to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

  • Strong customer service orientation, a team player with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail

  • Ability to persuade and influence leadership on people matters

**The base salary range will be estimated between $90-120k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
