Your Opportunity:

Greenheck Group is looking for a highly motivated student to work from May - August 2024. In this role, you will use CAD technology to translate 2D layout drawings and technical design documentation into 3D designs and drawings required to manufacture large commercial air conditioning equipment. This role works under the direct guidance of others and may work together with the application engineers to determine design specifications. This position will allow you to impact our business while learning about our company and culture.

What you'll be doing:

  • Create 3D sheet metal piece part and assembly designs and production drawings for custom-applied HVAC products using computer-aided design (CAD) technology.
  • Manage 2D and 3D CAD assets using product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
  • Prepare bills-of-material and material cut lists for new and changed designs and service requests under the direction of the design team.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including product specifications, component selection data, and performance data summary sheets as required to direct design creation.
  • Perform quality checks on all work products utilizing CAD, PLM, enterprise resources planning (ERP) software, and other utilities.
  • Assist shop floor personnel with technical direction to correct sheet metal product design problems as they arise. Communicate design problems to appropriate engineering personnel for corrective action as necessary.
  • May participate in value engineering projects to continually improve product reliability, cost efficiency, and manufacturability of product designs.
  • May support the application engineering team with creating 2D submittal drawings and technical assistance on basic inquiries under the design team's direction.

What you should have:

  • Enrollment in a related associate's or bachelor's degree program
  • Ability to visualize solutions to problems and a solid mechanical aptitude
  • Experience using 3D CAD software to create manufactured parts and assemblies
  • Comfortable communicating with a wide variety of people
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred, AutoCAD experience a plus
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment helpful
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, water, or process piping design experience a bonus

This position will be over the summer of 2024, with the potential of part-time work during the semester.

  • Be evaluated on your performance with a mid-term and final evaluation.
  • Present your projects and experiences to our company leaders and executives at the end of your term.
  • Participatein Fundamental Fridays - exposure to our business and business leaders.
  • Have the opportunity to take part in company sponsored volunteering.
