Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Business Clerical Assistant. Reporting to the Business Specialist, this position supports the Department of Athletics budget office as well as the office personnel.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following.

  • Provides support with financial accounting, Athletics department payment processing, business expenses
  • Provides backup support for the Department of Athletics Business Manager in their absence.
  • Serves as an assistant front-line staff for Athletics department inquires, questions, and concerns regarding financial policies and procedures.
  • Fiiles of paperwork, updates information into the financial management system as necessary, vendor invitations, distribution of mail, scans historical Athletic files for compliance and sports information, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
*High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, bookkeeping, library assistant or related experience depending on the duties to be performed.
*An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previously worked within a Professional Office setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of an office environment, organization, and customer service.
  • Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy
  • Requires a minimum of two years of experience working in an office setting

Microsoft Office Suite, Copy machine, fax machine, scanner, Internet
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to work under sometimes challenging physical conditions and to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs, per OSHA standards
