Regional Sales Manager Ultrasound/Midwest Region

Job Summary:

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for recruiting, developing and managing the mid-western territory Ultrasound Sales as well as help to drive direct sales in hospitals and surgery centers and maximizing revenue growth for the US Ultrasound Imaging business within Mindray North America. This role includes developing and managing relationships with the sales representatives within the specified region or regions of responsibility while also supporting direct sales in hospitals target markets. This individual will collaborate closely with the direct sales representatives, sales managers, and clinical technology specialists to capitalize on direct sales opportunities and drive direct sales revenue growth throughout the US. This individual, on occasion, may also be required to support distribution sales activities outside of the hospitals and in the physician office markets. The RSM will interface with Marketing and Engineering providing customer feedback to support product enhancements and new product designs for the North American markets.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit, develop, and manage Ultrasound Sales Representatives within the Midwest region.
  • Assist the head of Ultrasound Sales with any direct expansion efforts.
  • Coordinate direct sales efforts in hospitals with Radiology, PM sales representatives, PM region managers, Corporate Account Managers, and Anesthesia Specialists.
  • Focus sales efforts in core markets; Emergency Medicine, Regional Anesthesia, ICU, Labor & Delivery, and Interventional Radiology
  • Coordinate and support direct sales demonstrations, installations, and in-services with ultrasound clinical technical specialists
  • Provide head of Ultrasound Sales with monthly reports which include sales forecasts for direct sales opportunities, demonstration reports, and territory activity.
  • Support regional and national ultrasound shows.
  • Foster collaborative communication with other Ultrasound Region Sales Managers, Marketing, and R & D team members to maximize product growth and brand building.

Position Specifications:

1. Knowledge/Educational Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years of healthcare capital equipment sales experience.

5 + years of ultrasound sales experience preferred.

Previous management of healthcare capital equipment personnel preferred.

  • Education: B.S. / B.A.

2. Skills and Abilities

  • Strong sales skills and knowledge of the strategic selling process.
  • Strong ultrasound clinical knowledge.
  • Motivated, self-driven, strategic individual possessing excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a passion for success and an ability to mentor distributors and others.
  • Strong competency in strategy.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making skills, and creative skills.

3. Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Travel can reach as much as 70% of the time.

Working Relationships:

1. Internal Contacts

  • The position requires contact with internal departments including sales, sales support, customer service, order entry, engineering, sustaining engineering, planning and purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, finance, HR, quality control, and regulatory affairs.

2. External Contacts

  • External contacts are sales reps, clinical education specialists, dealers, and customers. Customers can include hospital administrators and CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, Directors of nursing, biomedical engineers, IT professionals, and doctors.
