What you'll do

As the Technical Data Engineering Lead you will be a key leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure and architecture that supports the organization's data analytics and insights initiatives. This hands-on role will drive the transformation of the company's data platform, defining standards and implementing a modern data stack and operating model to enable efficient data ingestion, transformation, and modeling. The Technical data lead will work closely with the Sr. Director of Data Analytics and Functional Data Lead to ensure the data foundation enables the development of reporting and analytical tools that drive business performance and decision-making.

Data Architecture and Strategy
* Define the data architecture and engineering strategy to support the company's data and analytics roadmap, aligning with best practices and industry standards
* Establish data engineering standards, practices, and governance policies to promote reusability, maintainability, and scalability of the data platform in collaboration with global data team
* Evaluate and implement new data technologies, tools, and techniques to continuously enhance the capabilities of the data platform

Data Platform Development and Management
* Lead the design and implementation of a new, scalable data platform leveraging the Azure Analytics stack (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage)
* Oversee the development of reliable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, transform, and model data from various sources, ensuring data quality, security, and consistency
* Handle Data Ingestion projects in Azure environment from various third-party sources
* Collaborate with the infrastructure team to ensure the data platform is seamlessly integrated with the broader IT ecosystem, optimizing for performance and cost-effectiveness

Stakeholder Collaboration and Resource Management
* Partner with the Functional Data Leads and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into scalable, fit-for-purpose data products
* Manage and coordinate the work of external data engineering consultants to deliver on key data platform initiatives

This is a Hybrid role with the requirement to be in the NYC office 2-3 times a week.

What you'll bring to KIND

* Extensive hands-on experience working with the Azure Analytics stack, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, and related services
* Deep knowledge of SQL Server including use of stored procedures and functions
* Strong understanding of data architecture patterns, data governance principles, and data operations best practices
* Good knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Azure, etc.
* Strong understanding of data architecture patterns, data governance principles, and data operations best practices
* Proficiency in data modeling, data pipeline development, and data transformation using tools like SQL, Python, Spark, and Databricks
* In-depth knowledge of ETL Processing and ETL tools (SSIS, Workato, Azure Data Factory, Talend etc)

You have...

* 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a similar technical role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data platforms
* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
* Experience in designing, building and maintaining data infrastructure in a hands-on environment
* Led and mentored data engineering teams and consultants driving technical standards

Pluses

* Prior experience in the CPG or Manufacturing industry

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $147,000. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
