Job Overview:

Completes NOA (notice of admission) obtains authorizations, verifies and reviews all inpatient charts for insurance and demographic accuracy. Co-ordinates with UR and Social Workers in regard to LOS and placement authorization after discharge.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Prior experience in hospital admissions, billing or accounting setting preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and collections preferred.
  • Experience in insurance authorization/pre-certification

Preferred:

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift- 9:00am- 5:00pm
  • Every other weekend and holiday
  • Part Time/ No Benefits

Essential Functions:

  • Financially screens all self-pay patients for Charity Care and start application and/or assist patient with Family Care application
  • Make appropriate referrals to Outstation Medicaid Worker or County Board of Social Services
  • Evaluate ALL In-Patient admissions for pre-cert and insurance benefits
  • Verify all Medicare s through on-line system
  • Complete and mail PAIC s on all appropriate admissions
  • Various other duties received from Supervisor
