We are currently looking for a Senior Credit Underwriter/Portfolio Manager for Peapack Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Peapack-Gladstone Bank that provides equipment financing and leasing solutions, specializing in large-scale transactions which help businesses grow and succeed. The Senior Credit Underwriter is a Credit Risk role; primary responsibilities involve assessing lease and structured loan risks for investment transactions for new and existing large corporate and middle market clients, with a typical deal size of $5 million to $20 million.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a team player, who is detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical skills. In this role, you will collaborate with all disciplines of the Equipment Finance team and work directly with customers discussing questions related to the transaction structure, financial analysis and the interpretation of financial statements, and to gain an understanding of how these points apply within the terms of Credit Policies.

Key responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of 25-30 accounts:
* Perform annual / periodic reviews of a designated portfolio of clients, identifying evolving risks.
* Monitor company specific, market and economic factors, which may influence relationship risk ratings.
* Prepare industry/sector/portfolio reviews and reports.
* Monitor and maintain timely reporting of financial statements to ensure covenant compliance oversight.
* Key player in coordinating information for internal/external audits.
* Provide guidance/mentoring to junior team members as appropriate.
New transaction analysis and underwriting:
* Prescreen of proposed transactions to identify critical structural challenges and risks, balancing institutional risk tolerances with market needs.
* Perform due diligence and evaluation of prospective transactions with engagement of internal asset management, legal, documentation, or other functional resources.
* Prepare detailed credit and structure analysis including evaluation of repayment sources, corporate and industry risk, liquidity, asset management, market risks, risk rating, and historical and projected operating performance with trend analysis, including the spreading of financial statements.

Qualifications:
* Credit Risk professional with solid finance and analytical background, including strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, and accounting concepts. Experience in leasing or structured finance is preferred.
* Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited program in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics.
* Minimum 6-8 years of related professional experience in Credit/Risk analysis.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Experience in Loan Workout and/or Loan Review is a plus.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Working knowledge of Moody's Risk Analyst is preferred.
* Ability to work independently with a team-oriented approach.
* Some overnight travel may be required.
