Interim Senior GL and Consolidations Accountant


Our client, a leader in cloud networking, is looking for an Interim Senior GL and Consolidations Accountant to support their team in a variety of responsibilities while they undergo a system implementation.

This opportunity can be 100% remote and will have a duration of 9-12 months with the possibility of extension. This position will report to the Senior Accounting Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As Senior General Ledger Accountant, you will support the monthly and quarterly accounting close process and work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and other team members to create accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. You will be responsible for the closing of general ledger and consolidation activities and closing processes. This also includes preparation of reconciliation and flux analysis of balance sheet & Profit & loss statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the daily operations of the U.S. accounting department.
  • Perform General Accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system.
  • Create journal entries, month-end close work and account reconciliations for various accounts including prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, liabilities, debt, payroll and benefits and intercompany.
  • Run allocation, eliminations, and consolidation.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and perform detailed review of the non-recurring, infrequent transactions or journal entries.
  • Perform financial statements analytics and provide relevant explanations for fluctuations.
  • Interface with external auditors to ensure audit requests are delivered timely.
  • Assist in annual SOX compliance efforts such as financial reporting walkthroughs with the external auditors.
  • Prepare quarterly review and annual audit schedules to support the quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Supply information and support to other functions.
  • Oversee the month-end close process including but not limited to preparing journal entries and reconciliations for the Canadian entity.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
  • Review surveys and maintain regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years prior accounting experience in a multi-national publicly traded company
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Preferred to have experience using Oracle 11i or R12
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited institution
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have attention to detail and sound analytical skills, ability to interpret/communicate financial information.
  • Team-oriented & flexible, must be able to work closely with all levels of management.
  • Business process improvement focus required to drive deployment of world class processes.
  • Must work well under pressure and be good at meeting deadlines.
  • A pro-active nature to help embed process improvement and the ability to work closely with other functions are key attributes required for this role.
